Poker Secrets

Focus on Annie Duke

Annie Duke mightn’t have won her 1st WSOP Bracelet until ‘04 but she remains one of the most feared poker competitors around the cash matches at The Bellagio in vegas. Annie’s long-overdue WSOP bracelet came with success at the "cast aside game" of Omaha hi/low.

While competitors from the "younger crowd" of poker go wild after a huge win at the tournament, Annie goes back home to be "mom" to her four children. Annie was born in New Hampshire into a family of poker players. If you don’t accept that, watch her brother, Howard Lederer, in action who taught her how to play the game.

However, Annie Duke is no small-potatoes girl and has won her share of difficult tables, which includes knocking out Howard a few times along the way. They are both competitors that have the capability to acquire the large money and do it with a smile.

Annie is a strong competitor at any poker table due to the fact that she is a legitimate poker player, but it is a little more than simply being good at the game. Annie Duke is very intelligent and graduated from Columbia U where she took a double major in English and Psychology.

When you take a seat across from Annie at the poker table you will see Annie Duke is there to compete in the game and she starts "sizing" you up as soon as you sit down at the game table. If you cannot gamble like a Champion, then don’t waste your time.

Acquiring over $3 million in tournament competitions, Mrs. Duke became a adviser to both UltimateBet.com and Hollywood actor Ben Affleck, who aspired to hone his talents and develop into a force at the tables.

You will likely glimpse her at the Bellagio, you’ll see her on television and you might even play against her in a web-based poker game, but don’t expect a simple win. Unless you’re a camp-in-the-making, you won’t beat her. Although, it would be fun to mention you sat at the same table as "The Duke".
