Poker Calculator Report: Hold’em Pirate … Hold em Hawk Prohibited by Poker Stars
by Maci on May.09, 2013, under Poker
Since the Party Poker fall a few years ago, Poker Stars has emerged as the indisputable leader in absolute amounts of online poker players. They’ve the biggest tournaments, the most lively tables, the biggest cash games, and also the fastest filling sit and go tournaments online. With that comes power – the power to choose your partners, affiliates, and more to our point; acceptable software.
Long have I been advocating Holdem Hawk and Holdem Pirate (they are truly the same) poker calculators as easy to use and visibly attractive poker calculators. Recently though, these solutions have pushed the boundaries of acceptable use, at least in the view of Poker Stars, and hence have been forbidden from use on that website. This is unfortunate news, as a decent product, not unlike a few of the acceptable computer software allowed by Stars, is now virtually grounded because the largest poker website on the planet thinks it’s too closely related to an Operative Poker Calculator.
An Operative Poker Calculator is like a secret agent working for you, collecting and mining player data that you’ll be able to use against them down the road. The thing is, you don’t need to be at the table for this to occur. The software program (database) is working all the time for you. For most poker web sites, that’s over the line of justness, just as in real life as well.
Except Hold em Pirate and Hold em Hawk are in fact Empirical Poker Calculators, just the exact same as Hold em Indicator is. These kinds of poker calculators only acquire info on your opponents whenever you are at the table, just like you had been wagering in an actual scenario.
So why the Poker Stars Smack? Here is an actual alert I was sent from Poker Stars although running Hold em Pirate:
Upon a review of your account, we discover that you are running an external software program knownas Poker Sherlock, or its associated applications, Poker Edge, PokerBotPro, Hold em Hawk and Hold em Pirate……PokerStars shall be entitled to take such action as it sees fit, including immediately preventing access to the Games to such User, closing such User’s account with PokerStars and appropriating all funds held inside the relevant Poker Stars "real cash account".
Hey, did you notice the "confiscating all monies" line? That is what you can do when you are this massive!
The "related applications" is the origin of the trouble. The firm that created Hawk and Pirate also make Poker Edge and PokerBotPro, which are data miners. In fact, I think that Stars suspects Hawk and Pirate in fact gather data for these similar programs, while appearing like an Empirical Poker Calculator on the surface.
So therein sits the core of the dilemma. If you happen to wager on on Stars and have Hawk or Pirate, you are out of luck, as I have tried to alter this judgment. I got a polite reply from the staff members at Poker Stars, except truly, it isn’t likely to change. The excellent news though is that Hold em Indicator has been added to Poker Stars suitable software checklist, and it’s the only empirical calculator to be authorized by them.
