Howard Lederer grew up in a family of 5 where he enjoyed betting on numerous card games when he was young. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon club where the greatest gamblers would frequently challenge one another. He was able to access some of the greatest players in chess. With their help, Howard Lederer would sharpen his cunning thinking skills. Howard applied these strategic concepts to the game of NL Texas Holdem.
Howard also helped his sister Annie Duke master the game of poker. Annie Duke was a superb student of poker as she constantly asked questions about the right way to make the correct decision. Howard told Annie Duke to head out to Vegas and compete in the WSOP competition. Annie Duke is one of the strongest female players the poker world today. He headed to Las Vegas in Nineteen Ninety Three and competed in money games for the subsequent 10 years. When the World Poker Tournament grew in popularity, Howard decided to play more tournaments.
