Online High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

by Maci on Nov.02, 2021, under Poker

Gus Hansen had an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only one to make it to the final game in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. He won a massive pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has earned many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest enthusiasts around the world. While wagering on internet poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. Gus often plays in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen more often than not buys in for the minimum of $16, 000 and gambles very weak. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then goes all in. I believe Hansen is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless he is flat broke, he has absolutely no reason to play at the table with the min buy-in.

Buying in for the min takes most of the expertise out of big stack poker. Hansen is supposed to be 1 of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the total dollar value. I think tv can alter our view of the real world sometimes. The best players anywhere in the world may be players you have will not have heard of. Gus can be seen wagering on net poker on Full Tilt. He usually competes in high stakes omaha/8 and texas hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his abilities in cash games?
